About Untitled 12
Originally titled, “Don’t Leave.” This painting is about loss. I had intended for this to have a feeling of suspension, like floating under water. I could have gone in several directions because there are so many ways to express sadness and pain. I reworked the painting twice and spent too much time thinking about mood and feeling when what I should have been looking for was the truth – loss is a kind of transformation. Everything in this Universe, including the Universe itself, goes through phases. The Earth has seasons, it breathes in winter and exhales summer. We are not different, regardless of what anyone says. There’s solace and beauty in that, there’s also pain but, also joy, because it’s connected – it’s all one thing. We can’t often see it because we’re too involved with only one part of the whole and it’s easy to focus on just one phase. Time, usually gives us the distance we need to achieve the perspective to see things as they really are. – This is the last painting I made from Dead Reckoning, see the link below for more.
