About Revelation
Despite the title, this painting is more about the psychological connection a person has with their deity. John the Apostle, was to write down what was revealed to him. What’s important, is the claim – he saw some things, he wrote them down. Okay, lets say your neighbor tells you he’s experiencing this – he would probably be diagnosed with multiple personality disorder. I can only imagine that having another person in your head could get very complicated. So, you slip off into a sort of trance and, your second self, sees things, real things and dreamed things but, your first self is not there. Now, in John’s case, his first and second self is there so, it’s probably more like schizophrenia. It’s strange though, because his second self is, the one relaying the information while his first self is, the one deciphering the information, he’s having a conversation with himself that he truly believes is, God. He then goes about and puts these visions together as his first self in a conscience state, his second self, is not there. – It’s a bit of a bender. In his head, it must have been like time and space was folding in on itself, it’s hard to imagine but, it’s very surreal. For the painting, I thought it would be more interesting to make the seer female so we don’t think about John or Revelations from the start. The colors were selected because of the way they compliment each other and, arranged to give the composition a pyramid-like balance. I wanted the symbols to be indecipherable and not just floating in and out of the real and imagined but, somehow also imprinted in and on the fabric of space. – This painting is from Dead Reckoning, see the link below for more.
